Welcome back to school. As the primary purpose of public education is to have continuous improvement with increased academic outcomes the leadership team and teaching staff at North Huron have been reviewing our academic programs, analyzing student data and working to align curriculum and standards with the goal being increases in student test scores and teacher effectiveness. Our end goal is to have a district average of 1100 on the SAT test by the end of the 2026-27 school year. This requires all curriculum to be evaluated from kindergarten through 12th grade so that test score increases are incremental over a student’s learning career rather than expecting them to reach proficiency in the final years of high school. The North Huron teaching staff spent a significant amount of time this summer working together on curriculum and attending professional development events geared toward improving. The leadership team and teaching staff have come up with common methods that will be used to evaluate how well teaching and learning are connected in our district. This focus on academics is important as it helps students prepare to meet both local and state testing benchmarks and graduate from North Huron being career and college ready.
